Kevin Brennan MP, Under Secretary of State for Children, attended on Saturday to answer some challenging questions put to him by young carers, such as:

We think every Mental Health facility should have a safe friendly family room – How can this be put in place?

How can the government help and support Young Carers more? And is there anyway the Government can help children and young people who do not know they are young carers find out more and not feel alone?

 
 
He stayed to tour the site and listen to young carers views, and ,being a musician, gave an amazing performance of ’Robbie Williams Angel’ for the audience. 
 
Young Carers Meet Gordon Brown
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Carers
 
MPs and Peers, including Kevin Brennan, Minister responsible for young carers, and Barbara Keeley, welcomed a group of 12 young carers to the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Carers to voice their hopes for the future on Wednesday 5th December 2007at the House of Commons.
The young carers that attended were Norfolk Crossroads for Carers, Indigo Barnardo’s Young Carers Project and Gloucestershire Young Carers Project from The National Young Carers Forum and Barnet Young Carers Project.
Gordon Brown made the day extra special with a surprise visit to the group of young carers that were meeting to discuss the key issues currently facing young carers and their families in the UK. The young people seized the opportunity and invited the PM to

The young people were invited to the APPG for Carers by Barbara Keeley, MP for Worsley and Parliamentary Champion for Carers Week in 2007, who is vice chair of the group. Young people were supported to attend by The Children's Society in partnership with The Princess Royal Trust for Carers. The group voiced their priorities now and in the future and input into the New Deal for Carers Strategy.
